Makha Bucha Day
When: 7 March 2012 , annually
Where: Throughout Thailand

An important Buddhist lunar festival and public holiday, observed nation-wide. During the full moon evening, Thai people join candle-lit processions around temples, to celebrate the time when the Lord Buddha gave a sermon to 1,250 enlightened devotees. Foreign visitors are welcome to participate.

Turtle Releasing Festival
When: 1 – 10 March 2012
Where: Phang-Nga

The Turtle Releasing Festival is annually held in March. The aim is to release the baby turtles back to the sea after being raised by the Fisheries Department. Guests can witness diverse types of new born turtles like hawksbill turtles and green sea turtles walking down to their natural home. Features include parade and exhibitions about aquamarine life and sea turtles, OTOP product fair, local sport competitions, and stage performances.

Pattaya International Music Festival
When: March 2012
Where: Pattya

The Tourism Authority of Thailand in conjunction with Pattaya City Hall and Thailand’s biggest music labels are bringing together leading music acts from around the world and Thailand to provide the biggest music experience of the year in South East Asia.

The Pattaya International Music Festival has grown with every year and this year the organizers are guaranteeing a much bigger and better musical experience. The long weekend of great music will see the complete shutdown of Beach Road as various stages are set up around town and the streets are filled with merchants, food vendors, games and ample dance area’s with the latest in lighting and sound, eaturing some of Asia’s best DJ’s.

Thai Elephant Day
When: 13 March 2012
Where: Lampang

In the northern province of Lampang, people interested in the welfare and care of these noble animals gather for Thai Elephant Week, 13 March at the Thai Elephant Conservation Centre.

Thailand International Kite Festival
When: 13 – 14 March 2012
Where: Hua Hin, Cha-am

Kite flying is a popular world sport that has evolved over the decades. The use of modern materials and new technology has led to the emergence of bigger kites with more impressive structures. These new developments have made it possible to create a great variety of forms and structures and given rise to new methods of flying kites, all of which combine to create an awesome spectacle for the audience. See the sky adorned with a variety of shapes and vivid colours of more than 100 kites from 23 countries around the world. There are also Thai kite exhibition, acrobatic performance, satellite kite from Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency, radio-control small plane, parachute performance and many more.

Trat Independence Day
When: 23 – 27 March, annually
Where: Trat

The event is held at the Provincial Town Hall to mark the day the province returned to Thai sovereignty after French occupation by the diplomatic discussion between King Rama V and France. In the event, historical play is performed. Local product stalls, exhibitions from state and private organization, folk games and sports show, music performance and other stage performances.
